Self Measurement

Your Bra says a lot about you.

Studies have shown that a high percentage of women wear the wrong size bra. Most of us spend a lot of time buying clothes and want to look and feel great. A wrong bra size can mean that all that time is wasted and that new dress looks better on the mannequin.

Measure yourself.

A bra should fit firmly around your back. This is where most of the support comes from. The front and back should always remain parallel. Ensure that your bra feels comfortable and that your breasts are not bulging out of the top or sides of the cups. Your breasts should be enclosed in the cups and the strap around the rib cage stays where it should, parallel to the front. If the bra rides up your back, then you are wearing a bra that is too big for you.

Your shoulder straps should stay in place and should not dig into your shoulders or slip down. Ensure that no wires dig in under your arms or stick out at the front. If they do then the Cup size is too small. The wires should lie flat giving your bust support and comfort.

Step 1) Measuring your correct Bra size:

Hold a tape measure straight and firmly, measure around your rib cage, across your back and just beneath your bust. If the measurement taken is an even number, then add 4" (inches). If it is an odd number, add 5" (inches). You now have your correct bra size.

Step 2) Establish your correct Cup size:

Measure yourself as before, but this time across the fullest part of your bust. Hold the tape firmly, but not so tight that it flattens you.

  1. If there is no difference between this measurement and your bra size, then you are an A cup.
  2. If the measurement is 1" greater, you are a B cup.
  3. If the measurement is 2" greater, you are a C cup.
  4. If the measurement is 3" greater, you are a D cup.
  5. If the measurement is 4" greater, you are a DD cup.
